Hanoi

Vietnam's capital city, has to be one of Asia's most fascinating cities offering a unique blend of oriental and western charm. It is a city of exotic brightly painted temples and pagodas, elegant ochre-washed colonial villas, bustling narrow streets and alleys, grand tree-lined boulevards and shaded lakes. First established as Vietnam's capital in 1010, when it was known as Thang Long, the city's name changed several times before it eventually became Hanoi in 1831.

The Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam's first university, dates back to 1070

Halong Bay

A natural wonder of the world and one of Vietnam's five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, magnificent Ha Long Bay lies 160km to the east of Hanoi. Over three thousand jagged limestone islands emerge from the emerald green waters of Ha Long Bay. While some islands are no more than large rocks others are much more substantial and contain huge cathedral-like caves of stalactites and stalagmites. Most of the islands are clothed in thick green vegetation and ring with the sound of bird song in the early morning. Secluded sandy coves are everywhere and in the summer months the warm waters of the bay are ideal for swimming. Ha Long's largest island, and one of the few that are inhabited, is Cat Ba which has some nice beaches and a national park on it.

Sapa

Sapa is a beautiful and romantic resort town. At the height of 1,600m above sea level, the average temperature of the area is 15-180C. It is cool in summer and cold in winter.

Visitor to Sapa in summer can feel the climate of four seasons in one day. In the morning and afternoon, it is cool like the weather of spring and autumn. At noon, it is as sunny and cloudless as the weather of summer. And it is cold in the evening. With no advance warning of a thunderstorm short and heavy rains may come at noon on any summer day.

Hue

Vietnam's former imperial city, Hue, is one of the main cultural, religious and educational centres of Vietnam. Hue became the nation's capital under the Nguyen Dynasty when Emperor Gia Long, the first of the Nguyen emperors, chose the location for the imperial city in 1802. The city remained Vietnam's capital until 1945, when Bao Dai, the last of the Nguyen emperors, abdicated.

Many of Hue's attractions are found along the banks of the romantically named Perfume River that flows through the centre of town.

Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An ancient Town lies on the banks of the Thu Bon River, 30 km south of Danang. Hoi An has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, tile-roofed houses and narrow streets; the original structure of some of these streets still remains almost intact.

Occupied by early western traders, Hoi An was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century.

Nha Trang

The south central coast has Vietnam's finest beaches and the best-known beach resort is Nha Trang with its white sandy beach and swaying palm trees. Most of Nha Trang’s accommodation is directly opposite the beach and one, the 5-star Ana Mandara Resort, is right on the beach. Needless to say life in Nha Trang revolves around the beach and the sea for both visitors and locals. A boat trip on the clear blue-green waters of Nha Trang Bay with some snorkelling among the coral reefs and a fresh seafood lunch

Ho Chi Minh City

Formerly Saigon, city on the right bank of the Saigon River, a tributary of the Dong Nai, Vietnam. Siem Reap and Angkor Temples

The world-renowned temples of Angkor are situated in the nor-western province of Siem Reap. Within an area of approximately 600 square kilometers, over 100 temples have been discovered. All were built between the 9th and the 13th centuries, and those remaining temples constitute the skeleton of what was once the religious and administrative centre of the Khmer Empire. The constant building program undertaken by successive Khmer kings can be compared-favorably --with the pyramid construction projects of the Pharaohs in Egypt. Similarly to the Pharaohs, the Khmer kings made use of a vast force of slave labor.

Phnom Penh

The capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, is located at the confluence of three rivers - the Mekong, the Bassac and Tonle Sap.  The city is divided into three sections - the north, an attractive residential area; the south or the French part of the city with its ministries, banks and colonial houses; and the centre or the heart with its narrow lanes, markets, foods stalls and shops. Over the past four years, the city has undergone tremendous changes - businesses are springing up constantly and tourism is once again booming.  Cambodia has one of the most liberal investment laws to further boost managed to retain its charm and character - cyclos that weave through traffic with ease,
